The Masters of Motoring 2024 festival, sponsored by Footman James and set in the picturesque Wiltshire countryside, is gearing up for an exhilarating summer event. Scheduled for June 1st and 2nd, the festival promises a lineup brimming with automotive legends and historical milestones.
This year, the festival will pay special tribute to John Surtees, the only individual ever to win World Championships on both two wheels and four. The 60th anniversary of Surtees’ triumph in the F1 World Championship will be marked by the display of one of his TS9 F1 cars, famously driven by Derek Bell at the 1971 British Grand Prix. This car, which also saw action under Mike Hailwood and Surtees himself, will honor Surtees’ dual successes in motorbike and Formula One racing.
In addition to celebrating Surtees, the Masters event will showcase a rare piece from NASCAR history—a 2010 RCR Chevy Silverado truck from Richard Childress Racing, driven by Austin and Ty Dillon in the Camping World Truck series.
Moreover, the Masters of Motoring isn’t just about viewing these magnificent machines; it’s about experiencing them. The Sporting Bears motoring charity will be offering rides in a selection of extraordinary vehicles, from supercars to classic police cars, at the Castle Combe Action Day. With at least 15 cars available, attendees will have a unique opportunity to ride in some of the most exceptional vehicles available.
The festival’s activities extend to the scenic Bowood House & Gardens on Sunday, June 2nd, where these automotive treasures will be displayed on the lush lawns, accompanied by traders and a VIP zone, making it a perfect weekend for families and car enthusiasts alike.
