The first award winner of the Community Chest funding is the Siren’s Borders Under 15 girls’ netball team, a newly formed local grassroots group with a goal of encouraging young women into the much-loved sport of netball. The McCulloch Group has provided funding to provide the team of young women with their sporting kit for competing in their district tournaments.
Victoria Harburn, head coach, says “The Sirens Borders U15 team have been training together since August 2022. A very generous sponsorship package from the McCulloch Group provided us with all the kit we needed to kick off the season with a flying start. The girls and coaches have represented the Borders impeccably and should hold their heads high. The season draws to a close in April with playoffs for national rankings. Everything is aimed towards that point for them. We will also be nominating the most talented players for national pathway selection trials at the end of March.” Harburn continues, “Sponsorship for young women’s sport is critical for our success and continuation. We are very grateful for the help given to us by the McCulloch Group.”
The under-15 team have recently had a period of wins in the District Development Tournament against Glasgow, Orkney, Perth and Kinross, and Inverclyde. The current season ends in April and the girls continue to train hard ahead of this. The under-15 team is also joined by an under-17 team.

The McCulloch Group have committed to making one funding commitment per month to support causes such as children’s activities, local community projects and other charitable endeavours. With suppliers Selectequip the business donated crucial supplies to Luton-based Signposts, who support individuals affected by homelessness, they arranged internal collections for the Ukraine appeal early in 2022 and a toy collection appeal to support a local food bank in December 2022.
As a business with offices and depots across the United Kingdom from Toddington to Kilmarnock, they welcome applications of support to be submitted by their employees completing an application form for funds alongside their nominated good cause.
